About the Speaker

Sumit Agarwal is an Associate Professor of Finance and Real Estate at the National University of Singapore. His research interests include issues relating to real estate finance, financial institutions, household finance and consumer behavior. Agarwal has published research articles in journals like the, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and many others. Additionally, he has also co-edited a collected volume on Household Credit Usage: Personal Debt and Mortgages.

Prior to joining the National University of Singapore, Agarwal was a Senior Financial Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 2006-2012 and a Senior Vice President and Credit Risk Management Executive in the Small Business Risk Solutions Group of Bank of America from 2000-2006. He also served as an adjunct professor in the finance department at George Washington University, DePaul University and the Indian School of Business. Agarwal received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
